Annual Meeting Lodging Options

Those attending the AVA Annual Meeting and Conference have several lodging options available to them: the official conference hotel (Cypress Hotel), economy lodgings (Vagabond Hotel), Youth Hostel lodging (for groups), and lodging with local area AVA members who have offered up their homes to fellow members.

Cypress Hotel
The meeting itself will be at the Cypress Hotel in Cupertino. A Kimpton Hotel, the Cypress offers luxury and style amidst warmth and comfort reminiscent of a Mediterranean villa. This is an upscale, boutique hotel in the heart of the Silicon Valley. Amenities include: complementary high speed Internet access and morning coffee, hosted evening wine hour daily, complementary 24-hour on-site fitness room with cardio machines, free weights, exercise mats and exercise balls, access to outdoor swimming pool. This is a pet-friendly hotel (cats and dogs, not horses!). There is a complementary shuttle from the San Jose Airport but you must phone the hotel (408/253-8900) 24 hours ahead for pickup. For more information/directions visit www.thecypresshotel.com. A block of rooms is being held for Thursday February 28-March 2. Phone 408/253-8900 and mention "American Vaulting Association." A single or double room rate is $139 per night. Deadline for this rate is February 13th.

Vagabond Hotel
For those who would like to stay in an economy hotel, a block of rooms is reserved at the Vagabond Hotel in Santa Clara (10 minutes away). www.vagabondinn-santa-clara-hotel.com The rate is $62.97 per night for a single or double room for Thursday February 28-March 2. Phone 800-522-1555 and mention "American Vaulting Association." Deadline for this rate is February 13th.

Sanborn Park Youth Hostel
For a different (and delightful) alternative, you may wish to try the Sanborn Park Youth Hostel www.sanbornparkhostel.org. This lovely hostel is hidden among the redwoods of a 3600 acre park. It is approximately 15 minutes from the Cypress and about 5 minutes from Garrod Farms. The cost is $14 per adult, $7 per child per night. The Hostel is open for groups of 10 or more so you will need to contact Marianne Rose at marianne_rose@worldnet.att.net if you wish to stay here. Please let her know if you are interested in this option as soon as possible as they won't hold a block of rooms/beds until they get a deposit and we need a minimum of 10 people to have them open on Thursday. For the Friday and Saturday nights, they will be open but there are no guarantees that there will be beds until a deposit is put down.

Guest Stays with Local Area AVA Members
There are many local families willing to host visitors for the Annual Meeting. Staying with another vaulting family is a great way to build relationships with other AVA members outside your own area! If you would like to stay with a family, please contact Marianne Rose at marianne_rose@worldnet.att.net, and she will pair guests with hosts. Likewise, if you are from the local area and can host a guest or two, please let Marianne know. Deadline for requests to stay with families is February 13th.
