Bluegrass Vaulting Academy in Lexington, Ky hosted their first ever vaulting clinic on January 16th with Devon Maitozo.
Devon took time out of his busy schedule to teach clinic participants about not just becoming a vaulter but an athlete as a whole.
Most participants had only been vaulting for a few months and where very intrigued by the many aspects of vaulting demonstrated by Devon. The first hour was used to warm up and work on the perfection of hand stands. The second hour was on the vaulting barrel and mainly focusing on the mount and the third hour was used on the horse. Overall the focus of Devon’s clinic was very basic because of the level of the vaulters with an emphasis on detail. What participants thought:
"With the knowledge I gained from Devon's clinic in regards to proper form and body position, my vaulting performance has benefitted immensely." Kim Abbot
“I enjoyed working on hand stands and really focusing on the mount. I like how he pushed us and I vaulted, or more like climbed on at the canter.” Stasha Hickey
Bluegrass Vaulting Academy is hoping to bring Devon and other clinicians to Lexington KY to continue building vaulting in this area.
