Nationals being held in Kentucky this summer, provided the perfect time and place to introduce vaulting through summer camps. Thanks to the efforts of Wendy Ware and the Education Committee, the AVA was able to present two camp sessions in different
locations near Lexington. These three day vaulting camps were well attended by prospective vaulters and coaches. They were then introduced to local vaulting people so that they could continue their vaulting careers!
Each camp included warm up games and stretching, learning to groom and tack the horse and vaulting sessions on both the barrel and the horses. Every vaulter had opportunity for one on one coaching and also help with designing a Freestyle routine. These routines were then performed in front of their parents on the last day of camp. There were also a number of double and triple exercises and these performances were all done at the trot!
Special thanks to Tamea Denault who brought her wonderful horses Lady Mae and Storm, and also for the instruction provided by Tamea, Patti Skipton and five Warm Beach vaulters.
