AVA Election FAQs
How many Board and Officer positions comprise the AVA leadership?
The AVA leadership consists of eight or nine Officer/Executive Board positions: President, Executive VP, Secretary, Treasurer,
VP Competitions, VP Development, VP Education, VP Membership and Past President (for the first two-year term after
completing the Presidency); 18 Board positions; and six Regional Supervisor positions.
Which positions are up for election in this upcoming AVA election?
President, VP Membership, VP Development, Secretary, and eight Board of Directors positions are open for nomination.
Which positions are filled until November 2009?
* Four Officer positions: Executive VP (Kelley Holly), VP Competitions (Linda Bibbler), VP Education (Wendy Ware), Treasurer (Jan Garrod);
* 10 Board of Directors positions (Megan Benjamin, Carol Beutler, Rosie Brown, Suzanne Detol, Priscilla G. Faulkner, Katie Flannagan,
Virginia Hawthorne, Devon Maitozo, Yossi Martonovich, and Bob Weber);
* All six Regional Supervisor slots (Region I Supervisor Connie Geisler, Region II Supervisor Fran Hoke, Region III Supervisor Penny Maydak,
Region IV Supervisor Jodi Rinard, Region IX Supervisor Alison Gieschen, and Region X Supervisor Jane Egger).

Who is qualified to be nominated?
Any current AVA Adult Member may be nominated for any position.
How does the election work?
Nominations have closed, and candidates have been asked to write informational bios on themselves.
These will be posted up on this website by May 30, and will also be included with the official ballot that each
AVA Adult Member will receive via mail. These ballots must be received by the AVA National Office by July 31 to be counted.
The ballots will then be counted by the Ballot Committee at the National Championships, and the newly elected
members will be announced there and in the next AVA Blast following Nationals. For a complete election schedule, click here.
